Lotus Arts de Vivre collaborates with traditional lacquer artists from China and has its designs lacquered up to 100 layers, taking 4-7 months to complete a piece. It is a water-resistant product that withstands high temperatures and is regarded as exceedingly durable.
The Red lacquer is crafted upon by adding layers over layers of lacquer on top of each other and each layer has to be dry and be polished before applying the next. It would take up to one hundred layers before it is thick enough for carving. Each layer would take 1-3 days and special ratios of oil and lacquer had to be kept making sure that the lacquer could be still carved after 4-7 months of layering. It is then hand carved with master carvers, making them stunning pieces, often used in art installations and Jewelry.
